About VIP

Vasoactive intestinal peptide is a 28-amino-acid neuropeptide found throughout the gut, lungs, brain and immune system. It relaxes smooth muscle, dilates blood vessels and dampens inflammation. Synthetic VIP (aviptadil) has been studied in respiratory failure, pulmonary hypertension and sarcoidosis.

VIP calculator questions

How much bacteriostatic water do I add to a 5 mg VIP vial?

The calculator does not prescribe a volume; the right choice depends on how large you want each draw to be. As arithmetic: 5 mg in 2 mL gives 2.5 mg/mL, so each unit on a U-100 syringe holds 25 mcg. Use the “Water to add” tab to work backwards from a draw size.

What concentration does VIP have after reconstitution?

Concentration is the vial mass divided by the water volume. For example, 5 mg in 2 mL is 2.5 mg/mL. Check the certificate of analysis for net peptide content, which is usually lower than the label.

Where can I read the research on VIP?
